It is an immense area. the parque itself and surrounding parque natural or Entorno de Dofiana (a protected buffer zone) amount to over 1,300 sq km in the provinces of Huelva, Seville and Udiz. It is internationally recognised for its great ecological wealth. The park as a whole comprises three distinct kinds of ecosystem: the marismas, the Mediterranean scrublands and the coastal mobile dunes with their beaches. We want to understand which could be the role of the Architecture to anticipate the future in relation with the metropolitan landscape in the Mediterranean area. The book presents the projects done during the Workshop: Mediterranean Landscapes between East and West. Nature, Culture & Architecture _ Morphology / Typology in the pre-modern modality and today. Dofiana (Spain)_ Outside the City. Re - territorialization of the human habitats at the net-city[1] scale. The projects try to produce interpretative maps which can determine new relations among the main cities of the area (Sevilla, Huelva and Cadiz) and among different sides, land uses and functions of the Parque Nacional de Dofiana. Through these maps we will understand how Dofiana and territories like this can face the challenge of the raising of the sea level, the cimate exchange, which are starting point to image what type of architetture (new built sustainable form types), landscapes, city plans we would image.
